This weekend I was telling someone about all the assignments we have taken on over the past weeks in SciCom — double earth quakes, oil eating bacteria, etc. He said, “Wow, you should be really smart by the time you write 10 months worth of articles on subjects like that.”
I should be. Unfortunately, once I write the article and turn it in, I forget almost everything I wrote!
My brain is an etch-a-sketch.
My college journalism professor was the same way. He said he loved being a journalist because you become a temporary expert on lots of different topics. But to make room for the next topic, he had to do a “brain dump” of the details he had learned about the previous one.
